One of the small aspects of the book that I enjoyed, was that in the book the heroine really does where a beautiful gold gown, just like on the cover. The cover alone made me dizzy with excitement. I was very excited when I saw that Love and Other Scandals was available for review through Avon and Edelweiss. I have only read one of her books so far, but loved every moment of it. I recently discovers Caroline Linden has a well talented author. But more could lead to a betrothal, which he fears-or does he? Read more even though that just makes him want her more. Or the way he can only win an argument with her by kissing her senseless. Or what she might look like without those horrid clothes. If only he could stop thinking about her mouth. Even more, Joan's the last sort of woman he would ever choose: droll, sharp-witted, and always unfashionably dressed. Tristan Burke doesn't want a wife, and one can't trifle with a friend's sister without risking marriage. When she meets her brother's favorite drinking mate, Viscount Burke, it seems her hopes of adventure might be answered. She's had just about enough of being a respectable wallflower and is giving serious thought to embarking on a life of sin, or at least lascivious adventure like the ones described in a popular scandalous book. Joan Bennet has endured four Seasons without a single suitor or serious flirtation, let alone a marriage proposal.

Royal fans across the globe were left swooning after the King's trusted official was spotted amongst the congregation at Westminster Abbey yesterday He was also spotted standing behind Harry and Meghan at the Platinum Jubilee celebration National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral last June. He greeted Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky during his trip to the UK back in February and escorted then-Prime Minister Liz Truss to meet the King at Buckingham Palace in October 2022. He was also seen in the procession when the Queen’s coffin was escorted from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall for the four days of lying in state. He was caught on camera calmly and coolly removing a pen tray which was cluttering the King’s desk, as Charles signed the Proclamation which named him as the new monarch. Maybe a bit of a spoiler alert story touched on issues we have experienced. As the book was included in my Audible Escape membership, it was absolutely worth the listen. Rupert Channing is always good as an Australian, and even though I'm not a big fan of Muffy Newtown/Erin Mallon, she is very experienced and delivers quality (I don't like her voice, but that's a personal preference). This was not as good as the books in that series, they are all a solid 5 - both as stories and narration are concerned, especially the male narrators. This one I liked though! In my opinion Rebecca Jenshak is a solid writer of romances starring jocks, and I really love her Smart Jocks series. It's also confusing that the same characters seem to have reaationships with more than one person, as I had already heard Adele's story (also as Chance's sister from Australia) in Filthy Firefighter, but there her love interest was called Hayden Flynn. So far I have experienced that the quality of the books in the Hero Club series are of a huge variety, many not so good. Appreciated a new listen from Rebecca Jenshak! Humanity has resorted to a delicately balanced feudal system of governance, each aristocratic family struggling for survival, competing for control of a decadent empire. It is a universe of ‘traps within traps’, of human computers, secretive witch-cults and fanatic warriors, all with their own intricate histories and intentions. After the novel’s publication in 1965, it won both the Hugo and Nebula awards, going on to sell over 12 million copies, and spawning five sequels, as well as multiple board games, computer games, television series and feature films. The far-future universe created by Herbert is nothing short of a phenomenon. And as ambushes and betrayals push Zahru to increasingly dark tactics, she wonders if perhaps Kasta had it right all along: maybe peace was never an option. Yet diplomacy proves to be futile, and when Zahru turns to Orkena’s allies for help, she finds that none are willing to come to her aid-not without Kasta ruling at her side.Īs Wyrim advances on the capital, Zahru is desperate to protect her people, even if that means accepting Kasta’s help. Zahru has risen as Mestrah, and she is determined to peacefully end the escalating tensions with Wyrim, her country’s long-time enemy. In this heart-pounding conclusion to The Kinder Poison trilogy-which People magazine proclaimed a "delicious high-stakes adventure"-war looms over Orkena, but can Zahru save her people without losing herself? Let’s face it: adoption isn’t the norm in many parenting circles, so you and your existing children often have more planning and then explaining to do. Transracial adoptive parenting often takes a bit more legwork to find the resources you need to prepare well. Your prospective child may be of a different race than his new-to-him siblings. That means that he will likely already have established some habits and behaviors that can complicate sibling relationships. We have compiled these tips to help smooth out those wrinkles. Getting your family off on the right foot when you add an adopted child to a home where siblings already exist takes forethought. This is the case regardless of how your new child enters the family, but doing so through adoption can throw in a few added wrinkles. Adding a child to your family changes the dynamics for everyone, but most especially for the children who are already in the home. She just comes back and is accepted by pretty much everything. The biggest thing though would definitely have to be his mother. Ethan specifically says that he hopes Neveah never finds out about something yet we never learn what that is-frustrating. The little orphan boy who is super strong is never really explained. It talks about her being conniving and she is obviously very jealous and irrational but that plot line along with her nice brother who is also talked about never goes anywhere and they never get mentioned again. So the new, mean girl that got kicked out of her old pack (for reasons never told) was introduced half way through but it leads to nothing. I will discuss everything that was left unfinished, so these are sort of spoilers, but to be real spoilers something would of had to actually happen. We aren't told of how she's falling in love with him and there is never a sense that she has great passion or love for him. *SPOILERS* she says she's willing to give the relationship a try and that's really all we get. I also think we don't get any insight to how the girl feel to him. Lots of little things were said that I though were all leading up to something but to my dismay nothing happened. But it ended so unfinished, I kept waiting for something big to happen and it never did. So I liked the book, and I thought it was funny in parts and very sweet. In Miss Penman's 936-page novel, we are introduced to Richard much earlier in his life than we are in Shakespeare's play this, of course, is usually an effective way of gaining reader sympathy for a character, no matter how awful he turns out to be subsequently. He's an altogether nice man, a romantic hero as suitable to our late 20thcentury standards, at least in Miss Penman's interpretation, as he was to those of medieval England. In ''The Sunne in Splendour,'' Richard is moral, kind, honest and anything but deformed his hunched back, withered arm and limp have become merely an injured shoulder, and his inward qualities have improved accordingly. THOSE who know Richard III from Shakespeare will find that Sharon Kay Penman - a lawyer, historian and now a novelist - presents a contrasting view of the English monarch. THE SUNNE IN SPLENDOUR By Sharon Kay Penman. who's prosecuting him grows to involve Malerick, giving the storyline twists-and twists and twists, through Deaver's masterful sleight of hand. A subplot about a white power demagogue's attempt to assassinate the Manhattan D.A. The villain-revealed in passages from his POV as "Malerick," soon identified as a world-class magician with a serious ax to grind-commits further mayhem (including an attack on Rhyme), which looks like steps toward an act of consummate revenge. Forensic and eyewitness clues point to a culprit with magic training looking for expert help, Sachs encounters an aspiring illusionist, who goes by the stage name of Kara, who agrees to help her and Rhyme. Caught in the act, the killer vanishes from a sealed room. The novel opens with the murder of a young female student at a music school on Manhattan's Upper West Side. It's fitting, then, that in his new, giddily entertaining story about quadriplegic crime fighter Rhyme, he casts as his villain a professional illusionist-and an apprentice magician as assistant to Rhyme and Rhyme's cop sidekick–lover, Amelia Sachs. Fans of Deaver know that he works storytelling magic in his thrillers, not just the Lincoln Rhyme tales ( The Stone Monkey, etc.) but also the stand-alones ( The Blue Nowhere, etc.). |
